Want to help change the world? Start here at AnyTown 2008. AnyTown is a life-changing, weeklong human relations and leadership program for high school students in Nashville and Middle Tennessee. As an AnyTown citizen, you?ll have the opportunity to live with and get to know people from many different racial, ethnic, religious, cultural and socioeconomic groups. Conducted all around the nation, AnyTown helps students explore their own identities and biases, as well as learn the importance of citizenship and creating a more just and inclusive society. Together at AnyTown, we create a model community based on respect, understanding and peace that helps our citizens develop skills that will positively impact their communities.


Changing Lives...Transforming Communities

In 1999, Oprah Winfrey focusing for the third time that year on how NCCJ addresses critical issues for today's youth, said these programs "literally transform young people's lives." CommunityNashville, founded in 1927 as The National Conference for Christians and Jews (NCCJ), is a human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry and racism. CommunityNashville promotes understanding and respect among all races, religions and cultures through advocacy and education.


Your Ticket to AnyTown

The $300 AnyTown fee includes meals, lodging, transportation to and from Camp Hillmont, activities and supplies. Scholarships make sure that no one is prevented from attending due to cost. lf you require a scholarship, please check the "Scholarship information" item on the attached request for application/information.


Application for Citizenship

Attached is a request for an application/information. Applications are also available at area high schools throughout Nashville. Check with your school's guidance counselor or administration office first. If they are out of applications, feel free to call or email CommunityNashville and an application will be sent to you. CALL 327.1755 or email programs@communitynashville.org. Just remember, applications are due Friday, May 9, 2008. Completed applications can be mailed or faxed to the CommunityNashville office:

Who will you find at AnyTown? Most of our citizens are emerging, dynamic young leaders like you. We are at the heart of an intense and ongoing cultural exchange that fosters both important new relationships and a real sense of community in a fun, laid-back environment. AnyTown advisors are professionals teachers, clergy, law enforcement officers, community volunteers and business people who help guide the dialogue and provide crucial insight into the world beyond high school. Counselors are former AnyTown delegates who have emerged as leaders themselves. They facilitate all dialogue in addition to providing you with personal guidance, understanding, and direction throughout the week.
