About Us
"Prejudice rarely survives experience."
- Eve Zibart
With each new generation, there is an opportunity to end racism and prejudice. Because bigots aren't born, they're made. Which means if we don't teach our children hatred, they may never learn otherwise.
Building on its legacy of 37 years in Nashville, CommunityNashville, formerly the National Conference of Christians and Jews, works through programmatic strategies, research, and public policy initiatives to assist in breaking down barriers and building inclusive institutions that reflect communities today. We work to build bridges of understanding and cooperation through our programs and initiatives. Our primary focus is on youth, student, and education initiatives understanding that the future is in the hands of our young people. We need future leaders who will become caring, responsible citizens committed to the values of inclusion and justice. Since 1992, the Building Bridges programs have served thousands of young people from K-12th grade primarily in Davidson County providing them with skills, knowledge, experiences, and role models that help them become diversity and justice leaders who will appreciate, respect others and themselves. This is a core value of youth development and the core value of our programs and mission.
